Brief Profile:
                  Serving as University key officer (Director of Extension) since September, 2007. Total service of 28 years in Education, Research &Development in different positions/capacities namely, Professor of Aquaculture at College of Fisheries, Mangalore, Associate Professor of Aquaculture and other positions at the above Institution under University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore Foreign Service: Six months in UK and 3 months in USA.
Educational Qualification: M.F.Sc., Ph.D., in Aquaculture
Post Doctoral Research: In Aquaculture Nutrition at the Institute of Aquaculture, University of Stirling , UK, for six months (1993-04) and in Aquaculture Biotechnology at the Texas A & M University, College Station, USA, for three months (2005-06).
Experience Information Service and Communication Technology: He has experience in Information and Library Science including Automation of Library and OPAC and other related areas.
Awards / Recognitions: Recipient of the following prestigious national/international awards for outstanding contributions in research and development in ‘aquaculture & fisheries. 
  • The Jawaharlal Nehru Award - 1995 of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Government of India, New Delhi.
  • Sir C.V.Raman Award-1998 of the Government of Karnataka.
  • Nagamma Dattatreya Rao Desai Research Award of the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, 1997).
  • International ‘Technical Cooperation Training Award’ of the Overseas Development Administration, UK with a fellowship for 6 months in UK (1993).
  • International ‘Award of the International Foundation for Science’, Sweden, with grant for research and international travel (1993).
  • Nominated as a Member of the ‘Technical Advisory Committee’ of the Karnataka State.

    ORGANISATION STRUCTURE
     
    Mandate:
                   To organize and coordinate various extension programmes and outreach activities for the benefit of farming community. To coordinate with the Deans and other officers of the University and Line Departments in the conduct of different extension activities and other programmes for the benefit of farmers/entrepreneurs and industry in the areas of Veterinary, Animal, Dairy and Fisheries Science and Technology. To under take transfer of technologies and popularization of developed/refined technologies for the benefit of farming community.
    Highlights of Extension Education Programmes Carried Out:
    • Organized series of training programmes for farmers/farm women and officers of the Line Departments/NGO’s/other organizations in the areas of Veterinary, Animal, Dairy and Fisheries Science and Technology.
    • Organized farmers meet, workshops, animal health camps and other on-campus and off-campus meetings for the farmers.
    • Organized and coordinated few major exhibitions and pashu/matsya mela for the benefit of farming community in association with Agriculture Universities/Line Departments/other organizations.
    • Conducted demonstrations, field trials, field days, case studies, surveys and other farm oriented activities in Animal, Dairy and Fishery Science to popularize the new / improved technologies in Karnataka.
    • Adopted villages and Livestock/Dairy/Fish farms for transfer of technologies and for overall improvement in the social-economic condition of farmers and rural development.
    • Organized a series of Radio/TV programmes in the areas of Veterinary, Animal, Dairy and Fisheries Science and Technology.
    • Published University News Letters, Annual Reports, Calendars, Leaflets, Pamphlets, Package of Practices and other Publications in different areas from time to time.
